Q: Do you have any suggestions on what we can do to save money on our homeowners insurance?
A:Meeting Wind storm (Wind Mitigation) criteria WILL save you between $100.00 to $2,000.00 annually on any Florida homeowners insurance policy. Also, we have a page here dedicated to what insurance companies consider risks. Spas, animals over 70 lbs and other variables will raise your homeowners insurance costs. Click here (coming soon) to see the stuff that will raise your home owners insurance premiums.
Q: Does my home qualify for an insurance premium reduction from a wind/storm mitigation inspection?
A: In most cases if your roof was built or replaced on or after January 1, 2002 your roof would qualify for a reduction in premium submitting the proper form to your insurance company. Check out our Wind Mitigation Information page and our Wind Storm Inspection page for more details.
Q: How long does an inspection take?
A: A Wind Mitigation( Wind Storm)takes one hour. Both wind storm and 4-Point together takes 1 1/2 hours. A full home inspection takes between 2 and 4 hours according to the size of the house. The one thing that speeds any inspection is the proof of when the roof was installed.
Q: What preparations should I make before an inspection?
A: Having proof of when the roof was installed is suggested. Your homes outside will be photographed from the front and back. You may want to make sure everything is in order.
Q: We work many hours and really don’t have time to keep our house as tidy as it should be. Will that make a difference?
A: It does not matter the shape your house is in just so we can get to the attic and crawl spaces. Steve is very understanding, friendly and a “real world” kind of guy who understands we all aren’t neat freaks!
Q: What hours do you work? Can you perform an inspection after 5pm or even when it is dark out?
A: We normally work between 7:00am and 7:00pm Monday-Friday. A mold or infrared inspection can be scheduled after dark but most all others require daylight.
Q: I do not have a ladder. Do you need to go onto my roof?
A: We carry our own ladders to reach attics and roof eaves. However, we don’t necessarily always need to get on your roof.
Q: Do we check for Mold during the Full Home Inspection?
A: Yes, because Steve is a Certified Mold Assessor he can identify most everything he sees.
